Schedule 10 is generally not recommended for threading because its thinner wall can be compromised during the threading process, increasing the risk of leaks or failure under pressure. For 3" pipe, threading is typically performed on Schedule 40 or heavier. If Schedule 10 must be used, many shops require a waiver and strongly suggest using welded or flanged connections instead to maintain system integrity.
